Disneyland's Secret Restroom

Towels

The space assigned for towels in the Secret Restroom (conveniently located adjacent to and slightly higher than the sink) has been used for a number of devices over the years.

When the Secret Restroom first opened, one of the old continuous-roll towels could be found here. When it was discovered that such towels could promote the spread of disease, it was removed and a fashionably dressed restroom attendant was hired to assist with hand-drying, perfuming, and otherwise cleaning guests. Due to occasional discomfort fostered by mismatches between the guest's and attendant's gender and general complaints of creepiness, the attendant was replaced with a manual paper towel dispenser in 1973. This was in turn replaced with a blower-style dryer, which -- though economical and friendly to the environment -- was not popular because it was not optimally efficient and was difficult to use on faces.

The current towel dispenser is a marvel of technology, motion activated and computer controlled to deliver the precise amount of towel needed by a given guest.
