Disneyland's Secret Restroom

Changing table

The Secret Restroom's changing table was installed in the 1980s, well ahead of the trend for making these handy devices available in public facilities.

The table itself is a convenient, fold-down design -- another Disney-style innovation that provides convenient availability without compromising available floor space and minimizes the possibility of guests accidentally running into exposed corners.

The original changing table was replaced with the model shown here in 2003. Although the original table was durable, some infants found its stainless-steel construction cold, and some parents complained that its rigidity increased the possibility of minor accidental injury. This plastic version, light-weight and child-friendly, has become an industry standard, and we cannot help but assume that the Secret Restroom was a technology leader in this area.
